Research Information Management and Network System for Panjab UniversityPU@RIMNS: A Case Study

Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS) is a Reference Information Management (RIM) developed by the Central University of Punjab jointly with Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET). Higher education institutions and research institutions that want to showcase their research contributions to the scholarly community. The purpose of this paper is to articulate the PU@RIMNS implementation process at Panjab University, Chandigarh. This case study highlights the need and objectives of PU@RIMNS project, functional use, features and functionalities, benefits realised, etc. This paper also highlights the present status of PU@RIMNS. Overall, the PU@RIMNS implementation at PU has been a great success. PU@RIMNS is not only benefitting the universities and research scholars but also a wide range of researchers, professionals, students and the general public by providing research publications/citations of the PU faculty members discoverable at the institute/national level .Sharing practical experiences related to successful implementation of PU@RIMNS is crucial in our rapidly developing field. This paper provides insights into the steps taken while implementing this project. This can benefit the universities/institutions that want to build their own RIMNS.
